Fire Department Requirements We Help You Meet

Los Angeles County (LAFD Requirements)

Maintain up to 200 ft of defensible space around structures (depending on zone/conditions)
Cut grass and native brush to 3 in or less
Trim trees > 18 ft tall so lower branches start 6 ft above ground and foliage stays 10 ft from chimneys
Remove dead leaves/wood from roofs & gutters
Dispose of vegetation legally chipped material ≤ 3 in deep, never within 10 ft of roads or driveways

Ventura County (VCFD Requirements)

Maintain at least 100 ft of clearance from structures (up to 200 ft on slopes/high-hazard areas)
Cut dry grasses & weeds to 3 in max
Remove dead material & ladder fuels; space shrubs/trees per FHRP guidelines
Debris must be legally disposed of or chipped; chips ≤ 3 in deep and not piled near structures
